Hello,

Welcome to the Aquarium Wiki! We definitely welcome anyone to the site who has first hand and scientific knowledge of a species.

Please keep in mind that this site has a different audience then wikipedia. Most of the scientific aspects are downplayed while we focus on care, breeding, and generally upkeep instruction. Many of the articles link back to wikipedia for the scientific side of things. In short, we would rather support wikipedia then clone them :)

A few things to note: 1) We use both units concurrently on the site. And we have set-up tempaltes to help with this for example:

{{in|5|6}} produces 12.7-15.2cm (5-6")
{{cm|5|6}} produces 5-6cm (2-2.4")

You can also use both of those templates with a single number for standard conversion. 2) We do not use taxbox like wikipedia, we use a custom template Template:Tl, this lets us organize the data and quickly rearrange the site if necessary. 3) I can see the images you upload are yours from wikipedia, don't forget your copyright :)

The easiest way to get started bringing your article into our format is probably to copy another fish's page and fill in the blanks.

All of those things are minor in the long run, the bigger deal is getting information onto the site accurately. One of the more other editors will be along to clean it up. If you have any questions please feel free to get ahold of me.

Again, welcome and thank you! --Brian 22:15, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Also with regard to the pleco pics, what species of pleco is that? "suckermouth pleco" could apply to any of the 700 plus species, it looks like it might be a gibbiceps but it's hard to tell as the photos are a bit small. --Cat 22:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

We do capitalise all names here, it's a name after all! --Cat 13:18, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
