Origin[edit]
- South America: Amazon River basin, in the Xingu and Tapajós River basins.
Environment specifics[edit]
- This Cichlid prefers shallower and faster flowing water than most. Does well in river biotope set ups. Prefers a mix of fine sand, stones and pebbles as substrate. This fish is sensitive to poor water conditions.
