Origin[edit]

From the Mekong drainage basin along the Malay Peninsula to Sumatra and Borneo.


Identification[edit]

Can be mistaken for the very similar Desmopuntius pentazona. D.pentazona has a spot at the base of the dorsal fin in between the bars, D.hexazona does not.
