Sexing[edit]
- It is difficult to visually sex this fish, although mature females may appear plumper than males.
Tank compatibility[edit]
- A peaceful Loach that does best in large groups, at least 3 or more. They are very active and should not be kept with shy or territorial fish.
Diet[edit]
- Will accept most flakes and sinking pellets as well as brine shrimp, daphnia and other live/frozen foods. May occasionally nibble algae.
Feeding regime[edit]
- Feed once or twice a day.
Environment specifics[edit]
- This fish must have a sandy, or small gravel, substrate as they will often burrow, and should be provided with plenty of places to hide. They appreciate some current in the tank as they originate from swift-moving hill streams.

- An active sociable fish.
Identification[edit]
- An elongated fish with a mottled grey body and pale belly. It has several barbels around its mouth and its eyes are on the top of its head.
