Tank compatibility[edit]

A peaceful community fish best kept in shoals of 5 or more. Keep with other peaceful community fish.

Diet[edit]

Will accept most foods including pellet and flake as well as live/frozen food such as daphnia and brine shrimp.

Feeding regime[edit]

Feed once or twice a day.

Environment specifics[edit]

This fish can be exceptionally sensitive to water parameters and disease, keep in mature tanks only. They do best in acidic or peat-filtered water with hiding places and dense planting.

Behaviour[edit]

A peaceful mid-swimming active shoaling fish.

Identification[edit]

A striking little fish with a silver body, black and white barred tail and a vivid red nose, giving the fish it's common name. Can be easily mistaken for Hemigrammus rhodostomus or Hemigrammus bleheri. H. bleheri has more red on its nose, extending past the gill plates, than P. georgiae or H. rhodostomus.
