tsp is the level measurement of a liquid or dry powder held on a typical teaspoon.

  • 1 tsp = 5 grams of powder
  • 1 tsp = 5ml of liquid
  • 1 teaspoon = 0.21 fluid ounce
  • 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon (tblsp or tbp)

(These are for the metric teaspoon)

There is a slight variation between the British teaspoon and the American teaspoon.

  • 1 UK tsp = ~4.75ml
  • 1 US tsp = ~5.70ml

Please note due to the nature of the history of the teaspoon it is not an exact measurement unless it states it is the metric teaspoon. It is often the case that the amount is rounded up to the nearest gram or millilitre.
