Common names[edit]

Seemingly the correct syntax for common names is upper-case initial letter of first name and lowercase the whole second name. So Neon Tetra needs to be Neon tetra, (I'm basing this on the common names found listed on Fishbase).

Hmm lots of retyping to do me thinks...!

Happy Hogmanay to one and all!

Except that's a bit grammatically wrong, I don't like grammatical errors. --Cat 09:08, 1 January 2008 (CST)

___
Upper-case initial letter of first name and lowercase the whole second name, is the correct agreed way of writing the species name (latin name) only. Their is no consensus on writing the common names. --Guppy

___
Your right of course. But no reason this site can't be consistent. I think if we do adopt a common name style we need to all agree which style it should be. :-) Catxx makes a good point on it being grammatically correct. --Quatermass 08:12, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
