Origin

South America: small coastal drainages of the Venezuelan departments Delta Amacuro, Monagas, Territorio Federal and in Brazilian states of Amap and Par; Guam and Tocantins River basins; Cuyuni, Mazaruni, Essequibo and Corantijn River basins.

Sexing

Sex can be determined by the presence of the gonopodium organ on males. Unlike the other Guppy, while fertilisation is internal, these fish are egg layers.

Identification

Unlike it's more common namesake, the Tomeurus gracilis is a small and slender fish with a relatively colourless translucent slightly iridescent body. The fins are colourless.
