Sexing[edit]
- Mature males are larger and more slender than females with elongated finnage.
Tank compatibility[edit]
- Best kept in a species tank, or with similar sized or larger robust but peaceful fish. This fish can be aggressive during breeding towards other fish and fish of it's own species, best to keep one male to a tank.
Diet[edit]
- This fish will accept most foods including pellet and flake as well as live/frozen food such as bloodworm or daphnia.
Feeding regime[edit]
- Feed once or twice a day.
Environment specifics[edit]
- Not fussy towards water parameters as long as ammonia, nitrite etc is kept in check with frequent water changes. Must be provided with plenty of hiding places and appreciates dense planting.
Behaviour[edit]
- A generally shy fish that will only be aggressive during breeding. When this fish sleeps it will lie motionless on the substrate.
Identification[edit]
- An elongate oval shaped fish with a straight back and short nose. Its body is slightly iridescent varies from pale green to yellow in colour. The fins are translucent with yellow or green spotting.
