Sexing
- Females are larger and plumper than males.
Tank compatibility
- A peaceful community fish that should be kept in shoals of 6 or more. Keep with other peaceful community fish.
Diet
- Will accept most foods but can prove fussy. Feed a mix of pellet and flake as well as live/frozen food such as daphnia and brine shrimp.
Feeding regime
- Feed once or twice a day.
Environment Specifics
- Does best in acidic water. Decorate the tank with bogwood and dense planting. Does not like bright lighting
Behaviour
- An active peaceful shoaling fish.
Identification
- A small oval-shaped fish with a silver base colour on the body with a black spot just behind the gill plates on either side of the body. The caudal peduncle is bright red, the other fins are translucent. The top half of the iris is red.
