Can you keep these fish with siamesse fighting fish?
I would say no. The Siamese Fighting Fish is a tropical fish preferring temps over 75F and fairly still water as they do not cope well in strong currents. These minnows however prefer cooler temperatures and strong currents. It would be difficult to find a happy medium. --Cat 18:48, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
I would keep them at 22 -23 C and I also made tha aquarium so that about 1/4 has a stronger current, and 3/4 has a slow current. I used thick and strong plants that stop moast of the current. I'm actually asking if the siamese fish would attack them.
22-23C is a bit too cool for Bettas. They would be too quick for a long-finned Betta to catch and having a split current is tricky, Bettas are curious and will venture into the area with the stronger current and then get blown back - which can cause injury if they get pushed into decor or tangled in long plants. Bettas are not vicious killers generally - they usually end up more of a victim to fin nippers or larger bullies. I've had a few Bettas that were a bit murderous (one that killed several attempts at breeding him, another that liked to sneak up on Corys and take chunks out of their fins) but most are fairly meek unless the tankmates look like other Bettas such as Guppies --Cat 15:44, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
I don't have souch decor or plants in there those fins can get caught. Also I've seen people having betas in similar tanks like me and they were curious at first, but later when they found out what hapens thay did't go into the current. also i had to see these fish at lower temperatures(20C) and they survived. It's only about 1C lower than optimal so I'll try. If the bettas woun't be happy or if something goes wrong, they're going into a tank from one of my friends.
If you were going to do it anyway why bother asking? le sigh. --Cat 21:42, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
I diceded not to have them with bettas, but with shrimps, snails and Corydoras adolfoi
