Revision as of 14:14, 17 August 2018

Welcome and thank you for your edits & images!

I wanted to check on the license for the images, you did take them correct?

If you did, how would you like to licensee them. You can make a choice from one side of

Public Domain - "Anyone can use them for anything"... to Copyright reserved - "Nobody can use them, but I will let The Aquarium Wiki use it"

I think a good medium is the CreativeCommons license, check out this page for some help in choosing a license: https://creativecommons.org/choose/

Please let me know what you would like to use, and I can update your images!

Hi - I am so sorry if I did not respond to this message correctly - this is very new to me!!

Yes- all of those are my pictures. I can provide EXIF data if need be - please let me know.

In looking at the licenses - I like this one - please -- Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International

There are also some items I would like to add - such as Marine plants etc - is there any documentation on the best way to add whole pages?

Thank you for your help.

ChrisR

Chris, awesome I'll get those pages updated.

As for how to create a page, your best bet is to find a page to copy. For marine plants I would head to a coral page, as that is the closest type to a marine plant. Take Aiptasia for example, then ad the top click the "Edit Source" link. Copy the source from the text box as the base for your new page.

Now to create the new page. In the search box type the page name you want. Our default stance is to use the scientific name as the page name. If the page doesn't exist, you will see some text that looks like 'Create the page "New test Page" on this wiki!'. After that point you can past the code you found in Aiptasia into that text box and you will be on your way. Feel free to edit the code directly, or save and re-enter the edit screen using the Visual Editor.

One change to make, in the code your pasted there is a template named "Fish Data" there is something like looks like "|type=i" or some other. That tells the template what name to use, just change that to something like "|type=sw_plant" or some such.

Please let me know what else I can help with. User:Catxx is also very active and can help you out.

Not sure how to change the TYPE area to make a category under Saltwater Plants - this plant will not live in brackish water - so not sure where to place it or how to make that category.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
