Origin
- North America: throughout Florida, except in panhandle only as far west as Choctawhatchee River drainage; sporadically along Atlantic Coast as far north as central South Carolina (where possibly introduced); southeastern Alabama in Chipola River drainage.

- A generally peaceful fish. Not a seasonal Killifish.
Identification
- An attractive small fish that looks similar to the White Cloud Mountain Minnow. It is elongated with a dark band running from nose, through the eye, to the caudal peduncle. The dorsal and anal fins both have blue iridescence while the tail is red.
Notes
- These fish may arrive unexpectedly to a store as eggs in peat moss shipments. Thus, when the peat moss is placed in the tank, the fish soon appear in the tank.
