- The female is more full and rounded in the belly than males. The male has a small hook on its anal fin. This is not always easy to see.
Tank compatibility[edit]
- A peaceful shoaling community fish that should be kept in groups of 6 or more. Keep with other peaceful community fish.
Diet[edit]
- Will accept most foods including pellet and flake as well as live/frozen food such as daphnia, brine shrimp and bloodworm.

- Feed once or twice a day.

Identification[edit]
- An elongate slender Tetra which is pale in base colour with a vivid bright yellow lateral line from the gills to the caudal peduncle. At the caudal peduncle there is a large black dot. The caudal fin itself is sharply forked and and the fins are mainly translucent with a slight yellow tint.
Conservation Status[edit]
- According to the IUCN Red List, the Costello Tetra is a species of least concern and has a stable population.
