P. armatulus is the common sripped raphael[edit]

It seems that the stiped raphael commonly kept in aquaria is actally P. armatulus.http://silurus.acnatsci.org/ACSI/participants/profiles/Sabaj/pdfs/2008_Platydoras_brachylecis.pdf On page 11 there is a key for iding the diffrent Platydoras species. It also says: "synonymized D. dentatus with P. costatus". Although it also states that it is a "tenative" synonym (since 1855). this http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/item.php?news=1888 restates what is above, but in simpler terms.

Planet catfish http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=166 has stated that P. costatus is/was "long misidentified as the widely distributed species commonly available in the hobby". --Tash 20:26, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
