Origin

Sexing

Tank compatibility

A primarily bottom-dwelling predator. Should not be kept with small fish or inverts as they will be eaten. Best kept in a species tank or with large robust yet peaceful fish too large to be eaten.

Diet

Will accept most meaty foods such as shrimp, mussels, silversides, bloodworm etc. It is best to avoid live feeder fish.

Feeding regime

Feed once a day.

Environment Specifics

Marble Gobies are highly adaptable to water conditions. Originally a brackish water fish, it is now found in freshwater habitats throughout SE Asia.

Behaviour

Marbled Sleeper Goby are sedentary fish. When disturbed by larger community fish they will rarely become agitated. They are often hard to spot in large tanks due to their inactivity. Marble Gobies, by nature, are carnivorous so don't let their docile nature fool you. They spend their "downtime" scanning the aquarium for potential prey, and characteristically, if it can fit in the Goby's mouth, it's prey. Keeping one in community tanks with smaller fish is not advised. One of the more interesting behaviours is its ability to balance itself on relatively small surfaces. They can be found at times perched on wires, magnetic algae cleaners, powerheads, etc.
