What is an Air Pump?

An Airpump is used to aerate the water. It plugs in to a regular electrical outlet and is usually attached to an air stone, tubing, etc. It is designed to pump air bubbles up through the tank. It doesn't necessarily aerate the tank but does cause surface agitation which helps with oxygenation and prevents pH crashes at night due to the build up of carbon dioxide from live plants or low KH levels.
