Silversides, or the order of Atheriniformes are made up of eight families of fish. They are found in all water conditions from rivers to oceans. The families are Atherinidae (Silversides and Smelt) , Atherinopsidae (Neotropical Silversides) , Bedotiidae (Madagascan Rainbowfish), Dentatherinidae (Tusked Silversides) , Isonidae (Isonids) , Melanotaeniidae (Rainbowfish), Notocheiridae (Surf Sardines), Phallostethidae (Priapiumfish) , Pseudomugilidae (Blue Eyes) and Telmatherinidae (Sailfin Silversides).
