Why the edit removing "The Rubbernose pleco is also known as Rubberlip pleco, Bulldog pleco and Mountain-Stream pleco" ? I belive atlest the pulldog and rubberlip pleco to be correct, i am unsure of mountian-stream pleco however. --PsiPro 23:36, 30 May 2006 (CDT)

Spotted Rubbernose Pleco[edit]

On the planet catfish page Chaetostoma milesi L187a is listed as being spotted and all the common names include "spotted". the photos are all spotted too. But here there is no mention of spots. maybe this should be looked into?

A quick (and superficial) search reveals that Rubbernose Pleco returns all images and references to spotted fish. The common name section lists a few 'spotted' varieties. A clarification could be in order, but a picture would be best. --Brian 18:13, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Picture problem solved.... I think... --Brian 18:32, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

the photo still doesn't look like the many photos of L187a on planet catfish. It looks more like L187b http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=318 which has spots only on the head and the rest is plain or more "striped". But I am not a taxonomist. Of course at one point at least one person thought they were the same (both being 187 and all). --Tash 19:18, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

still looking into this. I really think the current photo is Chaetostoma sp L187b (I think I have an L187b too, I just bought it at the LFS as "rubber pleco" but it only has spots on it's snout, not it's body like C. milesi). http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Image:Chaetostoma2971es.jpg other common names for C. milesi Colombian spotted pleco, Spotted Chaetostoma. I think we might need to find an original description (I can't seem to find one online). And maybe a taxonomist to straighten this out :) --Tash 01:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
