- The males of this species are brighter coloured than the females. They have vivid yellow fin tips.

- A small silver fish with yellow trimmed fins. Their pectoral fins (yellow tipped in males; transparent in females) are placed high on the body, giving them a wing-like appearance. Colouration of tails gives them a forked appearance.
