[edit] Alternative names
- Spotted Prawn Goby, Orange Spotted Goby, Orange Spotted Shrimp Goby, Blackchest Shrimpgoby, Spotted Prawn Goby
[edit] Synonyms
- Pteroculiops guttatus
[edit] Sexing
- Unknown
[edit] Tank compatibility
- A generally peaceful Goby that should not be housed with aggressive fish. It may pose a threat to small ornamental shrimp and does not need a alpheid shrimp in captivity.
[edit] Diet
- Feed small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp and chopped cocktail shrimp.
[edit] Feeding regime
- Feed two to three times a day.
[edit] Environment Specifics
- Should have a secure tank lid as this fish is a known escape artist. Substrate should be a mix of course sand and coral rubble for them to rummage through.
[edit] Behaviour
- A bottom dwelling generally peaceful Goby that will sift through the sand and coral rubble looking for food. This Goby forms a symbiotic relationship with the nearly blind alpheid shrimp where the Goby keeps watch for predators while the shrimp digs a burrow for them to share.
[edit] Identification
- Typical Goby in shape with a blunt head and large eyes set on the top of the head. The body is white-cream in base colour with many orange spots edged in brown covering the body and into the base of the fins.
